About DJ and Erica

Barrier Bay Resort is family-owned and operated. It is not unusual to come into the store and be served by Rebecca or Isabella, the daughters of the owners, DJ and Erica.  Often your wood is delivered to your deck by Andrei, who loves to sing while he works, which adds a fun, musical bonus to your stay.

A comment we hear often from our guests is that they feel like family when they are here, and the feeling is mutual. They have seen our kids grow up from summer to summer and, in a way, contributed to who they are today.

Year after year since purchasing Barrier Bay Resort, guests have watched our children progress in sports and school, age and size. They have heard many stories of Bella’s basketball games and Becca’s volleyball tournaments while they attended high school. Now, our extended Barrier Bay Family is shocked to hear both have graduated and are attending university. But as the girls have grown and started new chapters of their lives, the stories have never stopped.

Guests have had the pleasure of watching Andrei grow from a toddler into a young, hardworking boy who delivers their firewood, opens the pool on those hot summer days, and helps Mama and Papa with work whenever he can.

Throughout the years, visitors have seen our children grow, learn, and gain the hardworking work ethic they have to this day. Whether it’s cleaning cabins, the pool, equipment or maintaining our kayaks, our little ones were never afraid to lift up their sleeves and get the job done.

Family and community runs deep into the heart of Barrier Bay Resort. Summer after summer, we get to hear about families’ lives and listen to their stories of milestones, new adventures coming ahead and hear the stories of their children or grandchildren growing from small children to teenagers to entering adulthood.

We love becoming a part of your family events, whether it’s a proposal, honeymoon, birthday, or babymoon. We treasure helping make your milestones and events even more special, or even just the thought of including us by sharing photos through email.

One of the most exciting milestones that occur here is the big event when local grandchildren get to take their first solo visit to our store. We feel honored to take part in this big step that adds independents to your grandchild’s life.

In our store, you’ll find local artists’ artwork and products. We are proud to call the Whiteshell home and to help our community, businesses, and artists thrive, grow, and prosper for years to come.

Become part of the Barrier Bay family and visit us soon!
